1. The Landwher Canal near Treptow,built between 1861 and 1869 on the site of the medieval Berlin town hall.

2. The Entrance to Berlin Zoo. the Zoogarten was the first zoological gardens of its kind in Germany and was established in 1844. The first animals were provided by Friedrich Wilhelm IV.

3. Museum Village Dueppel. Over original site at Machnower Fenn, the citizens of Berlin reconstructed an early 13th C. medieval settlement complete with houses, storage sheds and workshops (smithy, shoemaker's shop, pottery).

4. Museum Village Dueppel. There are regular demonstrations of the various skills, such as bread baking, pottery, weaving and carving.

5 & 6. Spandau Forest. Situated on the north-west edge of the city and less than hour by public transport, the forest is one of the secrets of Berlin.

7. Wannsee Forest, the Berliner Forest at Wannsee combines fairy tale deep forest, East-West political history and mile upon mile of river and lakeside scenery.

8. Grunewald Forest, just 20 minutes from the the city centre, the Grunewald Forest is a place for nature conservation, education and leisure for many Berliners.
