| 1. The Rotes Rathaus,built between 1861 and 1869 on the site of the medieval Berlin town hall.
2. The Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor), inaugurated in 1791 it is the most recognisable symbol of Berlin. Vandalised by Napoleon and badly damaged in the Second World War, the gate marks the centre of the city and state of Berlin.
3. Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) in its present state was built between 1893 and 1905 as the church of the royal house of Hohenzollern, whose family crypt is here.
4. The German Cathedral is sited on one of Berlin's finest squares, The Gendarmenmarkt, named after the royal armed guard which was based here.

5. Berlin's main railway Station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof), Berlin's modern steel and glass station which has recently taken over much rail traffic that used to pass through the Zoo station.
6. Molecule Man by Jonathan Borofsky was completed in 1997 for the headquarters of the Allianz Corporation and is known as the "cheese men" or the "Emmenthal trio" to Berliners.
7. The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is a place to remember the six million victims of the Holocaust.
8. The Bode Museum, built between 1897 and 1904, is one of the five museum buildings that form the Museum Island World Heritage Site.
